Claes Oldenburg is considered one of the greatest Pop Artists of the United States. No other contemporary artist has revealed the potential of everyday objects with the boldness, sense of humor, and wit with which Claes Oldenburg, together with his recently deceased wife Coosje van Bruggen, has done for the past forty years. Oversized desk calendars, pens, inkwells, objects in transition, objects that no longer belong to contemporary life allow the artist to play with the notion of history as a continuum of disharmony.
