William Eggleston. Untitled, c. 1966-68.
Eggleston grew up on a cotton plantation in the Mississippi Delta and has created a singular portrait of the American South since the 1960s. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York established his reputation as a pioneer of colour photography with a 1976 exhibition which was a major point of inflection in his career. He lives and works in Memphis, USA.
