Inge Morath

1923, Austria – 2002, USA

In 1953 Morath was invited by Robert Capa to move to Paris and join Magnum Photos. She travelled to Iran, Russia and China to take pictures, and even learnt Chinese to get a better insight into the country. She was also a society photographer, taking portraits of Picasso, Miró, Cocteau and the New York intelligentsia. She met her husband Arthur Miller while photographing on the film set of The Misfits directed by John Huston. She died at the age of 79, leaving behind a major legacy in photojournalism.
