At the age of 19, Jonas Bendiksen began an internship at Magnum’s London office, before leaving office life to travel through Russia in pursuit of his own work as a photojournalist. During the years he spent there, Bendiksen photographed scenes from the fringes of the former Soviet Empire. There and elsewhere he focused on isolated communities and enclaves. Bendiksen has received numerous awards, including the 2003 Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography, as well as first prize in the Pictures Of the Year International (POY) Awards.
